“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.” – Eckhart Tolle
Love the image. Think the artist is L. Roche, and hope s/he doesn’t mind my sharing it here so others can appreciate its jewel-like beauty.
As for Eckhart’s quote, I’ve lately noticed that with the overwhelming anger, cruelty, and natural/man-made disasters around the world, it is pretty hard to stay focused on positive outcomes for ourselves and for those around us.
That’s why we need to appreciate ‘beauty’ whenever we see it because beauty is what helps us to realize that LIFE may be oppressive and overtaxing at times, but when you stop and simply look for it, ‘the essence of BEAUTY’ is still all around us: in nature, in the loving/sharing actions of others, and in the stalwart intentions of those who refuse to be defeated by oppression and aggression so rampant in today’s world.
As Eckhart claims above: “Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something NEW to emerge.”
That ‘something new’ is what we all seem to be waiting for, isn’t it? A new attitude—a new direction—a new outcome from what has previously been forced upon us.
We need something NEW, because the OLD ways of how the world around us functions have become nearly intolerable.
If I’ve learned anything in all these years of hanging around, it is that much of our personal and collective lives are dependent on how we perceive them to be, and how we perceive our responsibility toward whatever our life has become.
It is easy to play victim to the nasty verbal and physical attacks from others—easy to place blame elsewhere: on family members, on social environments, on political leaders and their flagrant personal ambitions that ignore the welfare of the people that they supposedly represent.
But sometimes that sheer negativity, so pronounced and so intrusive in our current social and professional media, is the driving impetus for our personal change simply because we can’t stand to keep listening or doing exactly the same thing day after day with the very same negative results.
When we finally reach the ‘intolerable’ level, we search for SOMETHING NEW to fill our waking minutes, hours and days.
And when that “I’ve had enough!” finally occurs for us, we look for new directions to travel—new goals to achieve—new associates with whom to share our lives.
In truth much needed ‘change’ is often initiated by extreme ‘dissatisfaction’ in or with our current lives.
That all-consuming DISSATISFACTION we may feel with some aspect of our lives is actually the course-correcting motivator of our personal CHANGE action.
And for personal CHANGE to occur, we must stop allowing that intolerable SAMENESS to rule our lives, which requires that we then make INTENTIONAL space for that something/someone NEW to emerge because without allowing for the possibility of NEWNESS to blossom, the old bloom simply withers away on the vine—devoid of all life until it finally drops to the ground.
So my guess is that something NEW is about to emerge for all of us, but that change will likely require a lot of individual effort and collective support to cultivate its growth toward greater overall positivity in our lives.
Let us first recognize that BEAUTY still exists all around us (so look for it), and when assaulted with extreme negativity wherever you turn “… realize that space is being created in your life for something NEW to emerge;” and then look forward to the positive changes it will eventually create if we all work together toward that unified goal.
